لطالما كانت الحكومة القطرية تلعب دوراً مهما في القضية الفلسطينية. فلقد قامت الشيخة موزة بنت ناصر في مايو ٢٠١٠ وأثناء إلقائها لكلمتها في حفل تخريج طلبة فرجينيا في ريتشموند، بتذكيرهم بالأوضاع التي يواجهّا الشعب الفلسطيني المحاصر في غزة. وفي كلمته أمام الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة أكد الشيخ حمد بن خليفة آل ثاني رفضه لــ "السلام الذي تريد أن تفرضة إسرائيل وفق شروطها الخاصة، وخارج الشرعية الدولية". كما أدان الهجمات التي قامت بها إسرائيل ضد النشطاء وشبهها بعمليات القرصنة.
بناء على ذلك وانطلاقا من ثقة الشيخة موزة بنت ناصر بالشباب القطري قررنا إنشاء هذه المجموعة المعارضة لأي تطبيع مع الدولة الصهيونية من قِبل المؤسسات القطرية.
في يوليو ٢٠٠٥ تم تأسيس حركة المقاطعة العالمية المستوحاة من تجربة حملة المقاطعة التي ساهمت في إنهاء النظام العنصري في جنوب أفريقيا. وبناء على هذا فإننا نتبنى ذات المطالب وهي كالتالي: ١) إنهاء الاحتلال الغير شرعي لفلسطين ٢) إزالة الحائط العنصري ٣) ضمان حقوق متساوية للجميع في فلسطين ٤) إحترام حق العودة للاجئين الفلسطينين.
Qatar has continued to be a leading advocate of Palestinians' rights. In May 2010, H.H. Sheikha Moza bint Nasser took the opportunity in a speech at VCU Commencement in Virginia to remind the fresh graduates of the conditions the Palestinian students in Gaza face due the blockade on Gaza [1]. And in September 2010, H.H. Sheikha Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani reaffirmed to the UN General Assembly his opposition to “the peace that Israel wants to impose as it pleases and outside international legitimacy” and condemned the recent attacks on human right activists describing it as piracy [2].
Building on that and H.H. Sheikha Moza's ever lasting faith in the Qatari youth, we have established this group opposing any normalization with the Zionist state by any institutions in Qatar.
Following the footsteps of the Global BDS movements, launched in July 2005, and inspired by the international boycott that helped bring an end to the apartheid regime in South Africa, we here adopt similar demands: (1) an end to the illegal occupation of Palestinian land, (2) the dismantling the apartheid wall, (3) recognize equal rights for all throughout Palestine, (4) respects the right of return of Palestinians who were forced to leave their land due to Israel’s inhuman ethnic cleansing [3] [4].
